Hall of Shame

I think its one of those times when i have felt that i am living in a hopeless society. India, A country of more than a billion of people. Country which gave great minds and leaders to the world. Suddenly i feel that such a large democracy is being ruled by handful of totally incapable persons. Maybe they are not completely incapable, but what burns my blood is the fact that, in spite of knowing all the logistics and good-bad of the system, the only focus for them seems to be vote bank. And they are very happy to accept it in public.
And i can do nothing about it, There are thousands of young students doing hunger strikes all over the country, forming human chains, doing protests against the new reservation system to be implemented. They are people from highly respectable educational background, who have no personal concerns what-so-ever about it. They can complete their graduation and live a comfortable life thereafter. Why are they so concerned, why are they so bothered. why can't they just think of their salaries like some are thinking about their vote bank. The only reason i can think of is that these are the people who know the consequences and are not selfish enough to ignore them.
I read thoughts of an alumnus of IIT kgp, The honesty and sincerity with which he has put those words so aptly is really appreciable. But the fact remains that those are hardly the things, which matter to our politicians who are taking decisions for us. I am afraid to say this but if this decision is implemented, we will be doing a great injustice to the talent which is bubbling with enthusiasm to make india proud. And the loss suffered will be something which can not be recovered.

waise that caption was my idea :D.....but i guess it is wrong for us to condemn Reservation comletely... i guess most of the guys look at it a slap on merit , democracy ..and whatnot ....but i propose to them ...to view the scenario with a keen and introspective mind ...and u will realise that Reservation is not that futile afterall ...I am against 50% reservation for backward classes ...but not against Reservation...for those who may not be aware ...more than 70% of the population of our great country befalls backward class es ...and we as responsible citizens ...must ensure that proper and adequate representation of such a big faction of our society is made at every level of hierarchy ....and i guess it wont be wrong ...and for those who may not agree can chk it out for record that for ages the society has been but dominated by a selected few who more so happened to belong to the so called "upper Class"--- my objective is not to sound as a Pro- reservationist but try put my voice to u as i believe it is the high percentage of reservation that must be condemned ...and not Reservation itself

There is already 22.5 % reservation in IITs and IIMs. And that is enough i think, infact i do think its more than enough... for the matter of fact i belong to OBC class which is to be benefited from the current hike in reservations, but still managed to get a seat in IIT as a general category student and its perhaps the only place in india which can claim to be secular and which does not differentiate people on the basis of caste.I fear that increase in reservation will change the case and there will be a divide among students. The point is, we are talking about institutes of higher studies, who have a reputation to protect. And admission to these institutes should be based on ability only. If the real intentions to help the backwards exist, they should be provided free schooling, the villages where the "actual backwards" exist should be given facilities of schools, hospitals, and basic necessities. Give them everything so that they can compete. To make a person win the race, he should be made fast enough, not that u stop others from running the race. That will be a fair way i think, giving them reservations is an abuse to their ability... as far as i can see it.
